Lyon’s Lair Author Agreement

This Author Agreement (“Agreement”) is entered into between Lyon’s Lair (“Platform,” “we,” “us”) and the author named below (“Author,” “you”). By submitting and publishing work on Lyon’s Lair, you agree to the following terms.

1. License Grant

You grant Lyon’s Lair a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display, distribute, and sell access to your work (“Work”) through the Lyon’s Lair platform for the duration of this Agreement.

This license is non-exclusive — you retain full ownership of your Work and may publish it elsewhere simultaneously, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

2. Ownership

You retain full copyright and ownership of your Work at all times. Lyon’s Lair claims no ownership over any content you publish on the platform. This Agreement grants us only the right to display and sell access to your Work as described herein.

3. Author Representations and Warranties

By entering into this Agreement, you confirm that:

  • The Work is your own original creation
  • You own all rights necessary to grant the license described in this Agreement
  • The Work does not infringe on the copyright, trademark, or intellectual property of any third party
  • The Work does not contain plagiarized material
  • The Work does not violate any applicable laws

4. Royalties

You will receive 80% of net revenue directly attributable to your Work.

Net revenue is defined as gross sales revenue minus Stripe processing and platform hosting fees.

Revenue is calculated on a monthly basis, and any royalties owed are paid within 60 days of calculation.

Lyon’s Lair retains 20% of net revenue as a platform fee.

5. Payment

  • Payments are processed monthly via Stripe
  • The first payment will be issued within 60 days of the monthly calculation, and will continue monthly thereafter
  • You are responsible for providing accurate and up-to-date payment information through your author dashboard
  • Payments will be issued provided your balance meets the minimum payout threshold.
  • Balances below the minimum threshold will roll over to the following month
  • If you delete your account with a balance below the minimum payout threshold, any remaining royalties will still be paid in full within 60 days of deletion.
  • Lyon’s Lair is not responsible for payment delays caused by incorrect payment information provided by the Author

6. Tax Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for reporting and paying any taxes applicable to income received under this Agreement. Tax documentation will be handled by Stripe. You may be required to submit a completed W-9 (US authors) or W-8BEN (international authors) before receiving payment.

7. Earnings Reporting

You will have access to a real-time earnings dashboard showing your monthly revenue, total reads/opens, and payment history. Lyon’s Lair is committed to full transparency in how author earnings are calculated.

8. Opt-Out and Author-Initiated Deletion

Either party may terminate this Agreement at any time, for any reason, with no penalty.

  • To opt out of the platform entirely, use the Delete button at the bottom of your account page. Account deletion automatically deletes all of your works from the site, and Lyon’s Lair keeps no records. Deletion is immediate and permanent and cannot be undone.
  • Any royalties earned but not yet paid at the time of deletion or opt-out will be paid in full within 60 days of their calculation, on the normal monthly royalty schedule.
  • Termination of this Agreement does not affect any rights or obligations that arose prior to termination.

9. Platform Rights to Remove Content

Lyon’s Lair reserves the right to remove any Work from the platform at its sole discretion if the Work is found to:

  • Violate these terms or our Submission Guidelines
  • Contain plagiarized content
  • Infringe on the rights of any third party
  • Violate any applicable law

In such cases, the Author will be notified and any earned but unpaid royalties will be handled as described in Section 8.

10. Mutual Respect

Lyon’s Lair is committed to treating every author with professionalism, transparency, and genuine respect. We expect the same in return. We reserve the right to terminate this Agreement immediately in the event of harassment, abusive conduct, or bad faith behavior directed at Lyon’s Lair, its staff, or its community. If we terminate this Agreement under these circumstances, any royalties owed to you will still be paid in full within 60 days of termination.

Notwithstanding the above, Lyon’s Lair has no obligation to pay royalties derived from fraudulent activity, including but not limited to misrepresentation of authorship, fraudulent submissions, or theft of intellectual property.

11. Limitation of Liability

Lyon’s Lair’s total liability to you under this Agreement shall not exceed the total royalties paid to you in the three months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages of any kind.

12. Governing Law

This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict of law principles.

13. Changes to This Agreement

Lyon’s Lair reserves the right to update this Agreement at any time. Authors will be notified of material changes with at least 30 days notice. Continued publication of your Work on the platform after that notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree to the updated terms, you may opt out as described in Section 8.

14. Entire Agreement

This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and Lyon’s Lair regarding your Work on the platform and supersedes any prior discussions or agreements.
