I'm an Animal Control Officer by day and author by night. Unfortunately I see a lot of negative during the day and my way of copping is to write! I felt the best way to do this is to create a universe that can take me a lifetime to write and so that way I always have somewhere to go and just let my mind wander. My hope is that my books can do the same thing for you!

Yaroslav Zolotnikov

A person with a complicated history of personal identity and migration. I’ve dreamed of writing since childhood, but only recently started turning that dream into reality. My first book is called The Story of Everything. It’s a satirical sci-fi adventure whose main goal is to make the reader smile. Humor is my main weapon against fear, cruelty, and all the other unpleasant gifts the world is far too generous with. I also love presenting ordinary human experiences through the lens of completely extraordinary and absurd circumstances and characters. Mostly, I write because I’m not very good at leaving things alone. A thought, a person, something somebody said years ago… sometimes it keeps scratching at me until I turn it into a story. What comes out is usually a little dark, sometimes quite strange, occasionally funny in places where it probably shouldn’t be. People who make bad decisions for understandable reasons tend to interest me most. The ones who lie to themselves. Who want to be good but don’t always manage it. As for what kind of writer that makes me… I’m still figuring that out. Maybe I’d rather keep it that way.

Sarcasm is the default setting, sentiment admitted only under protest. Load bearing humor, the kind of love where no one gets out alive, consequence matters and things get messy. About Sisyphus Sisyphus prefers to remain anonymous as he explores the vicissitudes of the human condition through fiction. He had been reticent to express himself in long-form writing until now, but the advent of such brilliant new tools as Claude, Perplexity, and ChatGPT has persuaded him to stop being so lazy. Sisyphus relies on Claude and ChatGPT as his co-authors, who can brainstorm story ideas, work out concepts, test outlines, and create first drafts. ChatGPT is, furthermore, his most capable research assistant that can help develop scientifically plausible plot devices, help navigate novel technology, and design covers, among its many other duties. Perplexity has been most useful to him for factual research, as well as some of the finer points of wordcraft. Aside from this assistance from our robotic overlords, Sisyphus is the sole author of each story. Unless otherwise noted, all work on this publication is © The Myth of Sisyphus 2025-2026. Hi, I’m Vesper L. Rayne. I love telling stories, though I’ve never been especially interested in staying inside one genre. I write character-driven romance, fantasy, speculative fiction, and stories about strange little places and the people—and occasional creatures—who live there. My stories wander through the funny, eerie, tender, and sometimes heartbreaking, but I’m usually drawn to the same things: people who feel a little out of place, unexpected forms of love, and the small kindnesses that give us somewhere softer to land. I believe monsters can be lonely, whimsy can carry real weight, and a good story can help us step away from the world for a while—and perhaps return to it feeling a little less alone.
